Event description

“One of the greatest tragedies of our time is this impression that has been created that science and religion have to be at war.”– Francis Collins

Hello all! Orthodox Christian Campus Ministries invites you to “Science meets Christianity,” an event dedicated to debunking the common myths surrounding the disagreement between science and faith.

The event will primarily be focused around the view of the Coptic Orthodox Church. Orthodox theology has a positive attitude towards the natural world, and sees it as a good creation of a good God. There is a perception among leading modern Orthodox theologians that science cannot be excluded from the theological vision of God and creation. The task of Orthodox theology is to reconcile the cosmic vision of the Fathers with the vision that grows out of the results of natural science. The split between science and religion can be overcome on the grounds of their reinstatement to communion with God. This event will explore various topics under the umbrella of Science and Christianity, such as the scientific evidence for creation, historical evidence for scriptural validity, evolution and natural selection, prayer and science’s roles in medical treatment, and Orthodox views on genetic modification and cloning.

Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Mourad Takla Ph.D. There will also be free FOOD and FUN activities!
